Dear Members and Friends:
The Big Bang of our faith is Holy Week.
Beginning with Palm Sunday, when the collision of God’s Son with the powers that be begins to begin: something is going to happen, just what is both unpredictable and foreordained. From the crowd’s hosannas and hoorays, we move to the next step in the cosmic reaction:
Maundy Thursday’s drama with the last supper, the foot washing, and the retreat to the garden. In Gethsemane, the forces of light meet darkness, and in lonely splendor, Jesus is carried along on a wave of doubt to his face-to-face encounter with evil:
Good Friday’s celebration of motivated malignancy meeting pure goodness in the cock-pit of the mock-trial and awful conclusion on Calvary is awesome to recollect and to reflect upon, until:
Easter morning when the Cosmic Christ arises, again and always, fresh and full, unfailingly faithful.
Good People: let it by our solemn joy and responsibility to make this drama our own. Please be present this Sunday at 10am for the Palms and the Passion. And then, at 5:30pm on Thursday and Friday for those special services, which lead up to Easter Sunday’s 10am celebration of universal proportions.
